P 2.6-1 For the circuit of Figure P 2.6-1:

(a) What is the value of the resistance R?

(b) How much power is delivered by the voltage source?

Figure P 2.6-1

(a) What is the value of the resistance R?

The polarity of the ammeter and the current source confirm that the current in the circuit is going counter-clockwise.  Notice the voltmeter has the positive terminal on the right side of the resistor so the polarity of the resistor agrees.  We can use Ohm’s Law to get R

(b) How much power is delivered by the voltage source?

Since the current is going to voltage source the voltage source is receiving power, so power delivered by source must be negative.
